About our name
Buddhist value: ‘Like a lotus flower that grows out of the mud and blossoms above the muddy water surface, we can rise above our defilements and sufferings of life.’ Love Lotus or ‘Ngoi Lin’ is Melanie’s Chinese given name – her Cantonese mother chose it from Chinese classical literature. Her name serves as a reminder of this Buddhist value, to realise that the mud of life nourishes and teaches us our most important lessons, that love is the only true solution to any problem because unconditional love and true compassion are one and the same.
Hong Kong born Melanie has lived and worked in Thailand for over 20 years. She is the Founder of Lotus Wellness studio in Sathorn, Bangkok and mother of two. Initiated into energy healing aged 10 through Traditional Chinese Medicine, she believes that the only road to wellness is a holistic one. Her personal wellness journey weaves together a potent blend of Reiki, Kundalini Yoga, Water Therapy, Essential Oils and Integral Sound Healing. Her professional path encompasses two decades as a PR and Marketing specialist in the music, hospitality and property industries as well as primary school teaching. Besides offering group/private sessions and wellness certification courses in 5 languages at her home garden oasis, Mel has also been honoured to share the healing vibrations of her gongs at Tedex Chiangmai, Wonderfruit Festival, Féstival du Féminin, Bloom Kommunity, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, the Alliance Française Bangkok and The Nook. She also offers off-site corporate wellness sessions and has gonged regularly for private events, counting global consumer brands such as Hendriks Gin, Netflix, Srindhorn Kempinski Hotel & Dusit Hotel Group as clients. Her community studio is a sacred space for sharing deep healing, education and the empowerment of students to grow into confident practitioners and teachers.
